We’re kicking off a three‑week series called Good Riddance, looking at Romans 6‑8 and how Paul’s wisdom can help us shed the sinful baggage we all carry. We all walk into church weighed down by things we’re not proud of—bitterness, harsh speech, hidden shame—but in Christ our old self has died and sin lost its hold on us. So the first step is knowing that we’ve died to sin’s slavery and are alive to God—it’s a matter of counting ourselves dead to sin and alive in Christ, even if we don’t feel it yet. Then we move to step two: offering ourselves daily as instruments of righteousness, not letting sin reign in our bodies. We’re encouraged to hand over every part of our lives to God and daily recommitting to how we’ve been made new. In short, we’re learning to think differently about who we are—and then live in that truth.
