Giving: A Spiritual Discipline

People give to churches because they believe in what the church is doing—whether that’s helping those in need, supporting spiritual growth, creating a welcoming community, or just keeping the lights on and the coffee brewing. It’s a way of saying, “I’m in. I want to be part of this.”

Giving is also a spiritual practice rooted in the Bible. In 2 Corinthians 9:7, Paul writes, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” It’s not about pressure—it’s about gratitude, trust, and investing in something that matters.

From the earliest days of the church (Acts 2:44–45), believers pooled their resources to support one another and carry out God’s mission. When we give, we’re continuing that tradition—helping the church serve people, grow disciples, and share God’s love with the world. Every gift, big or small, helps make that possible.
