We are continuing to work through the Believe book focusing on who God wants us to become. This week we look at self-control as a work of God rather than sheer willpower. Christianity isn’t a list of rules, but a restored relationship with a holy God who wants to shape our character to look like Jesus. From Scripture, we see that self-control is really about discipline that grows out of surrender, where the Holy Spirit replaces our natural reactions with love, joy, peace, and faithfulness. This kind of discipline is developed by walking closely with God through prayer, Scripture, and community. Real strength and real change come when we give God control and let His Spirit produce His character in us.
